Dumplings in Hot Garlic Sauce with Sizzled Scallion Tarka
Serves 2
Ingredients
12 oz store-bought frozen dumplings, wontons or potstickers (not ‘soup dumplings’), such as Bibigo, Laoban dumplings, Trader Joe’s varieties
1 jar Maya Kaimal Hot Garlic Stir Fry Sauce (depending how saucy you like it)
3 tablespoons neutral vegetable oil
2 teaspoons minced ginger
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 scallion, thinly sliced
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Notes
I would not use Soup Dumplings here because tossing them in sauce could cause them to burst.
Preparation
Step 1
Bring a pot of water to boil. Boil the frozen dumplings according to package directions, approximately 2-3 minutes.
Step 2
While the dumplings are boiling, heat the sauce. If you like a lot of sauce, use the entire jar. Heat it in a skillet over medium heat until hot.
Step 3
Drain the dumplings and add them to the sauce, stirring gently to coat. Place in a serving bowl.
Step 4
In a small skillet, heat the oil until shimmering. Add the ginger, garlic, scallion and optional red pepper flakes and sizzle for 15-30 seconds until the ingredients just begin to turn golden. Pour over the dumplings and serve immediately.
